Preschool and Day-Care Teachers
The Children's Department at the Ela Area Public Library strives to support preschool and day-care teachers through our Children's and Parent/Teacher collections as well as visits and an annual Preschool Fair.

School Visits
A center may request a storytime either at their facility or may arrange a visit to the Ela Library.  View the newsletter to see the storytime themes that are currently being offered.

Teacher Cards
Teachers who teach at preschools or day-care centers located within the Ela Area Public Library District may apply for a card with an extended checkout period of 6 weeks for school materials.

Book Requests
Teachers may request books for the classroom for a special theme or a variety of topics.  Call the Children's Reference Desk at 847-438-3840 extension 501 or 109.

Other Materials
Teachers may request educational videos, kits that include a book with a cassette or CD, music CD's and magazines such as Child or Pack-O-Fun.  Picture books, song books and language books are available.

Theme Bags for Check-out
Each bag contains books, a puppet, fingerplays, a video and a craft suggestion.  Themes:  Snow, Polar Bears, Food, Farm Animals, Birds and Bats, Caterpillars and Butterflies, Bunnies and Loose Teeth, Frogs and Getting Dressed, Possums, Bears and Berries.

Parent/Teacher Area
The Parent/Teacher collection contains books and magazines to help teachers plan curriculum, find craft ideas, and keep current with recent professional studies.

Preschool Fair
The Preschool Fair is a chance to showcase schools and make information available to parents.  The fair is generally planned for the month of January.  Watch the Library's Footnotes for the date.

Preschool Newsletter
A seasonal newsletter announces the storytime themes offered and includes other helpful ideas for the classroom.  View the current newsletter here.
